You will have the Cairngorms on your doorstep and a host of outdoor activities to enjoy.  If you are a fan of video games or if you are into the tech start-up scene Broughty Ferry is an ideal place to base yourself and at a tiny fraction of the cost.  Sky and Space Living on the edge of the Tay you will experience an amazing sense of sky and space.   I have witnessed the most beautiful skies: nights alight with the Aurora Borealis, a 22-degree halo around the moon, winter beach walks under the Milkey Way, a creamy full moon melting into the mirrored water, and sunsets that blazed and dripped with all the colours of the rainbow. I will always have memories of sharp spring mornings, walking through clouds of pale gold and cerulean blue; days where I awoke to a river of pearly light with shadows of silver and pewter and others when the inky black clouds swept over the banks leaving dark wisps, and the winter sun turned the sand to a deep pink and purple. Bars, cafes and restaurants offer the best of local produce and could easily compete with anything that the larger cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow have to offer.  Outdoor Activities Dundee is also known as the Gateway to the Highlands. The Cairngorms are virtually on your doorstep, perfect for spur-of-the-moment Monroe bagging.   Broughty Ferry is home to the Royal Tay Yacht Club.  It is ideal for golfing with St Andrews links 24 minutes and Carnoustie Golf links only 17 minutes drive.  The coast in each direction has many beautiful and remote beaches and little villages.  Fans of watersports have a range of activities in the surrounding area. Monifieth Beach is rated as an ideal spot to kitesurf.
